Journey To The Cross
7 Week Lenten Devotional Guide
Session 1 | 7 Miracles /
7 “I Am”
March 5 is Ash Wednesday, which begins the season of Lent – a time to prepare our heart, mind, and body to experience the remembrance of Good Friday and celebration of Easter in fresh, new ways. This week, we prepare for a Journey!

Session 2 | John the Forerunner
John’s Gospel introduces us to an important forerunner of Jesus, John the Baptizer. As a prophetic voice calling Israel back to faith in God, he prepares the way for Jesus’ public ministry and first miracle.
Session 3 | Born of
The Spirit
An important theme in John’s Gospel is the contrast of spiritual light and darkness, and he uses a series of events in the spiritual journey of the Pharisee Nicodemus to illustrate moving from dark to light!

Session 4 | Spirit &
Truth
In this week’s reading, Jesus has a life-changing conversation in Samaria and does two miracles that demonstrate His healing power in a dramatic way…

Session 5 | The Bread of
Life
This week we read how John presents the way Jesus meets our greatest needs as the “I am” of the Bible that is now present in our everyday world.

Session 6 | The Good
Shepherd
John’s Gospel presents that Jesus is the “I am” that The Father has given to us, so that whatever our need, Jesus declares “I am” God’s answer for you.

Session 7 | The Resurrection &
Life
John wants his readers to know that Jesus is the source of true life – in this world and in the world to come!

Session 8 | The True
Vine
Jesus entered Jerusalem with His focus set on completing the mission the Father had given. His final earthly words and actions were vital for His disciples, and for us as His followers today.

Session 9 |The Greatest Miracle!
As we move from the remembrance of Good Friday and the glory of Easter Sunday, we move forward in awe of our Lord and Savior! This week, we continue reflect on the “I am”, in new awareness of Jesus’ presence with us.

Session 10 |Jesus’ School of Discipleship!
The Christian year celebrates Jesus’ birth, death, Resurrection, and also the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost! In these weeks leading to Pentecost, we will focus on Jesus’ teaching to the disciples about the Spirit’s work.

Session 11 |Three Questions for Jesus
Jesus’ teaching at the Last Supper was challenging for His disciples as they processed the new commandments He was sharing. John records three questions from Jesus’ disciples for us to be able to hear His answers!

Session 12 |The True Vine
The first parable found in all of Scripture is Isaiah 5; the Lord’s Vineyard! Jesus draws on this rich image, embedded in Jewish culture, to illustrate our relationship with Him, with each other, and with the World.

Session 13 |The Holy Spirit’s Primary Purpose!
Jesus promised His disciples that they would not be alone, but that He would still be present through the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is still present with us today, convincing us of three important things!
